ARTWORK & PERSONALIZATIONS

  • We strongly recommend all artwork be computer generated to ensure the best printing results. We suggest the use of high contrast, clean and defined edges, straight typefaces, and avoid type smaller than 7 pt., or detailed artwork in small imprint areas. Our Art Department supports both PC & Mac: the Mac OSX versions of the following software programs: Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, and CorelDraw. Acceptability of artwork files in PDF format is subject to review by our Art Department.
  • Due to potential compatibility issues with vector files, all art that is intended to print must be centered and visible within the artboard/page/preview area(s). A Better Idea cannot be liable for art that runs off the page or isn’t fully visible on the artboard (resulting from customer supplied Adobe files that do not comply with specs outlined herein. To avoid compatibility issues due to customers using other formats/versions of Adobe Illustrator which will result in lost art, reduced image quality, and font errors, all vector art submissions must be back saved to Adobe version CS3.
  • Layouts: We strongly recommend the artwork submitted be laid out the way it should appear when printed. We reserve the right to use the art provided as we see fit, using our best judgment to make logo and copy fit within our printing templates on our products. Slight alterations and modifications are considered acceptable, and no credits or adjustments can be made under any circumstances.
  • File formats: Within our line of products, different items are available in different printing methods. The requirements for each method are as follows:For SPOT COLOR PRINTING (Screen, Pad), SAND ETCHING or LASER ENGRAVING, we require files in Vector EPS format, with type outlined (solid colors only, no halftones or gradations). For 4-COLOR PROCESS DIGITAL PRINTING, we require files in TIF format, CMYK color mode, with a minimum resolution of 300 ppi, sized at 100%, flat and with extra bleed if needed (the format for Spot Printing, see above, is also accepted).
  • Personalization’s, Copy Changes and Variable Data: All copy changes and personalization info must be provided exactly as they are intended to print, in a editable text format such as: DOC (Microsoft Word), TXT (plain text) or XLS (Microsoft Excel). Complex and multi-line personalization’s must be provided in a Microsoft Excel format with each line of copy split to a separate column. For example:
  • LINE 1 (Name)
  • LINE 2 (Title)
  • LINE 3 (Sponsor)
  • John
  • First Place Runner
  • Charlie Burger
  • Charlie
  • First Place Cyclist
  • Johnny
  • Please Note: Personalization text within pixel images (JPG), scans and faxes cannot be copied and pasted and will always have to be retyped. These formats will not be accepted for personalization over 15 pieces. A data entry fee of $25.00 per half hour will be applied for retyping and proofing any personalization list that is not provided in an editable format.
  • All necessary font files (OTF, TTF) must be provided with artwork that requires personalization or typesetting.
